Qualifications/Knowledge: Must be at least 18 years of age. Knowledge of road construction and maintenance principles. Knowledge of work safety principles and practices. Skill in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions as necessary. Operates a variety of light equipment, machinery and tools in the maintenance and repair of county roads and drainage systems. Operates a variety of hand and power tools, including chain saw, weed eater, blower, shovel, rake, limb saw, etc. Assists in traffic control at work sites. Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections; performs preventive maintenance. Performs public works construction, maintenance and repair duties; replaces road signs, installs driveways, etc.; pours, spreads and levels asphalt, concrete and gravel. Attends department meetings and training sessions. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
